Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverages accounting expertise to assist/co-lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes including but not limited to monthly journal entry production (validating automated system feeds and all manual entries) and monthly general ledger account reconciliations.  Ultimate responsibility for these processes.
  • Ensures information provided by the Accounting department is timely and accurate, for use in statutory and regulatory filings, audits, and for internal reporting purposes.
  • Monitor and evaluate accounting systems and processes, recommending areas for improvement.
  • Recommends and implements changes in accounting policies and practices as required.
  • Leads and leverages the value in unit, department, and enterprise-wide teams to develop better accounting and business solutions influencing a cross-enterprise mindset.
  • Directs, coaches, develops, and cultivates a talented team of approximately 35+ associates and consultants, including 6 direct reports.
  • Accepts and successfully executes change while supporting employees through the process and keeping them focused on business priorities.
  • Participates and manages special projects as assigned by the VP – Tax & Accounting or designee.
  • Represents Accounting in enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and acts as a reliable business partner and resource for other departments within the company.
  • Oversees the expense and liability team, e.g., admin & medical expense accruals, invoice data balancing and entering data into business systems.
  • Oversees accounting for Claim Liability & Expense Accounting for TPA, Fixed Funded Clients and BUPA. Accounting for Corporate-Wide Fixed Assets and Prepaid Expenses.

 

Qualifications

 

  • BS/BA in Accounting required
  • CPA Required
  • 10+ years of Accounting experience, public or private including previous management responsibility
  • 7+ years in public accounting preferred, including 3-5 years in a management leadership role
  • Expert knowledge of general accounting practices and principles
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. GAAP and STAT reporting and specific practices/procedures
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in M.S. Office tools
